The Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is an important aspect of our occupational therapy service. In an FCA,
we assess your level of functioning in your everyday tasks and life activities. We then recommend what supports may suit your needs to help you at home and in your community.
Our Supported Independent Living (SIL) assessment is appropriate if you may require higher levels of support in your home. We will work together to determine your needs. We will then provide recommendations to the NDIS for how supports could be delivered so that they best suit your daily routine. This assessment would be suitable for you if you need:
- Active disability support more than 8 hours per day to complete daily activities, and
- Some level of support for the other hours of the day, including overnight.
There maybe a time where you might need specially designed housing to meet your needs. In a Supported Disability Accommodation (SDA) assessment, our occupational therapists take the time to explore your needs and recommend appropriate housing options.
In the process of our assistive technology (AT) prescription, we take careful consideration of your current and future needs, and recommend suitable technologies that can assist you with your daily activities. We work together with you to ensure that you are a part of every trial and decision involved in acquiring the equipment you need.
We provide Occupational Therapy-specific interventions to help you develop skills or maintain your current functioning when performing everyday tasks. Our occupational therapists can help you develop various strategies and skills to continue to participate in activities that are meaningful to you, whether this is shopping, cooking, laundry, gardening, or catching public transport.
